Fantastic breakfast this morning! John is on vacation and my brother and his wife are visiting. John whipped up some sausage crepes, and they were great!
Here's the recipe:
click here for the Basic Crepe recipe from Sparkrecipes.com
He added to this batter:
tsp of dry mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
tsp parsley flakes
whip up batter in blender, let sit while preparing sausage and cheese:
Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Patties (1 per crepe, warmed and diced)
Organic Valley Raw Sharp Cheddar Cheese (one of my favorite cheeses!), finely grated
make crepes as instructed, add filling when mostly done, fold and turn out on plate.
This made 4 large crepes.
Enjoy!

week 4!
Well, down 2 more pounds for a total loss of a little over 6 pounds in 4 weeks. I am very happy with that!
Sorry I haven't been posting more, I've got family visiting, and have been very busy!

Chips, Chips, Chips!
I am a chip fiend. I am not having any problem with avoiding sweets, I have never had that much of a sweet tooth. I do have a couple of squares of Green & Blacks 85% chocolate at night - I have always liked dark chocolate.
But chips - there's my downfall. I know that we can actually have some chips on the Belly Fat Cure, but I have avoided them because I have been worried that I would not be able to stop and have too many.
Well, I went over to a friends house last night (we had a viewing party for a gig we did recently) and there they were - a big bowl of chips and guacamole. Leering at me. I could hear them calling.
I had three. Three! And that was enough. Take that, you chippy chips!

Week 3 weigh in
Well, end of week 3 and I'm down 2.4 lbs - woo hoo! That makes a total of 4.2 lbs lost. John is down 1.6 lbs for the week.
So far this has been very easy - we really like the food we are eating and are not hungry. We are actually amazed at how not hungry we are.
Work on the Belly Fat App is progressing - we will be looking for Beta testers soon!
Happy Eating!

John's BBQ sauce
Here's the BBQ sauce recipe. You will want to tweak the ingredients to your own taste. When we used this on salmon for the recipe that's in the Belly Fat Cure, we used a little more lime zest to make it a little more citrus-y and brighter. If you can't find the Westbrae ketchup or Joseph's maple syrup at Whole Foods, they are both available on Amazon.
We figure that 1 serving (2 tbls) has 1g sugar and 2g carbs
John's BBQ Sauce:
1 bottle Westbrae Natural Vegetarian Unsweetened Ketchup (from Whole Foods)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tbls chili powder
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 to 3/8 c. white vinegar (to taste)
1/3 c.Joseph's Sugar free maple syrup (from Whole Foods)
1 tsp. grated lime peel or lime juice
1 tsp "Better than Boullion" beef base
1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke (to taste)
Put ketchup in a saucepan on low heat. When warm add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, dry mustard, and chili powder, and stir well to combine. Add the rest of the ingredients, stirring after the addition of each ingredient. Cover, crack lid to let steam escape, and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Enjoy!

Week 2
Week 2 weigh in - sigh...I actually gained a pound. But I know I went over on Sat night, and I'm not going to let it discourage me. John did his first weigh in, but he didn't weigh himself when he started, so we don't know his weight loss yet, but he did lose 2" on his waist - yay!
We love to tweak recipes, and we have come up with a couple of winners. First of all we are making our own bbq sauce using Westbrae unsweetened ketchup and spices and liquid smoke.
The second winner was pumpkin ice cream! We used Jorge's vanilla ice cream recipe and added a can of pumpkin and some cinnamon and nutmeg. Wow, was it good.
We have enjoyed trying the recipes in the book, last night we had the chicken enchiladas, and they were fantastic!
If we ever get anyone actually reading this blog, and there is interest, we will post the recipes.
